Development Bank Appoints Three Senior Executives in Strategic Leadership Reshuffle

Addis Ababa — The Development Bank of Ethiopia has appointed three senior executives as part of a major restructuring aimed at strengthening its top management and enhancing the institution’s financial and governance capacity. The bank described the move as a “high-level strategic leadership change.”

Accordingly, Aida Erqiyihun has been appointed Vice President in charge of Finance and External Funds. The newly appointed executive is reported to have more than a decade of advanced experience in international finance and investment. She previously served in senior roles at the Tony Blair Institute, the International Finance Corporation, as well as private investment advisory firms. In her new role, she is expected to play a key part in mobilizing external funding and strengthening the bank’s financial resources.

Tezera Amare has been appointed Vice President for Risk Management and Operations. With extensive experience in the banking industry, Tezera served for more than 15 years as Chief Risk Officer at Awash International Bank, and has also held senior positions at Bank of Abyssinia and audit firms. In addition, he holds ACCA professional certification and is a graduate of Addis Ababa University.

Alemgena Zerihun has been appointed Vice President for Internal Audit. Previously, Alemgena served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Ethiopian Postal Service, and has accumulated extensive experience in audit and financial management through roles at the Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia and other organizations.

The bank stated that these appointments, made under the leadership of Dr. Isayas Kassa, demonstrate its commitment to integrating internal control, risk management, and financial operations under a unified and effective framework. The move is also expected to strengthen the bank’s investment advisory capacity, international partnerships, and commercial banking practices through a more integrated approach.
